Default 4 foot tubing drop line?

Hi I do a four foot drop line from a 5/16 tubing spout into a bucket on the ground. I talked to a local and he says that doing this restricts sap flow. I am just wondering does this restrict sap flow and am I loosing sap right now because it sure seems like the tubing isn't dripping very much. Thanks Ryan

As long as the tubing is above the liquid level in the bucket there shouldn't be any restriction.
