    Default This Week

I say this coming week things will change and we will go into April this year. Several years ago we had this same weather pattern and it was the best year we had and it looks like its going to be a repeat so hopefully all are tapped out and ready to rock and roll and the rest is rock and roll history

The weather pattern looks like it will be changing in the next couple of days -- fingers crossed that the days will be warm and nights very cold!
2024 - 16 taps - buckets on our best producing trees, still boiling on a block arch with slight modifications/refinements over the years.
    2021 - 25 taps - all buckets
2013-2020 - 30/41 taps: discovering which trees were the best producers
2012 - First year - 21 taps in our backyard - block arch evaporator with 3 steam table pans!

I will be all tapped on Saturday. I still have to run 30 taps on 3/16" after everything is all finished. Not going to be fun with all this snow

I'm optimistic with this weather change, cuz we need it...
    Just hope wmur ain't lying

Last year I was too early with 1/2 of my taps and they dried up before the season got good. This year I'm tapping about 40 this weekend and then I'll tap the other 50 just before the next warm up. Hedging my bets in case I time it wrong again. Made all my drops today, also trying 30 on 3/16 natural vacuum this year, hope that improves my season a little. Good luck all.
