Default First year - tapping in the valley

This is our first year tapping. Started taps Jan 10 th. Have 9 taps on gallon jugs and 5 gallon buckets, 5/16" taps and tubing.
First boil on turkey fryers and round stock pots - took forever! 12 gallons yeilded a quart of syrup. can now appreciate why finished syrup is expensive!
Second boil with steam tables pans 20 gals. - 2 quarts - 8 hours
Building a barrel stove evaporator for 2 steam table pans, and starting design on ramp style evaporator.
having fun and it breaks up the end oif winter at least!

Completed barrel evaporator for 2 steam table pans
2016 season - New design barrel evaporator, with pre-heat pan and combustion air blower.

    Paul,

The long range weather forecast for your area looks ok for tapping over the next 3-5 weeks so I would think you should be able to make some syrup.

    Paul,
Do you have pictures of the evaporator you made? I have 2 builds in progress, welding and fabricating is another one of my many hobbies. Thanks, Sam
