    Default New year!

We are off to a great start here is south Central KY. Started tapping 1/17/15 with 235taps. Today we finished cooking off 750 gallons for the week.
We seemed to hit it just right . Good Luck to everyone!

We have had outstanding flows all season so far. The sugar % is not like last year but we are still making syrup. I look forward to the weekend with freezing today and warmer temps coming tomorrow there should be a good flow.

dje5717, where are you at, I'm in Pierce.
We started cooking this past weekend and made 6.5 gallons, not a lot but considering I was going to pass this year it's not bad. Seems lke the sugar content is low. The sap was clear but it took a lot to cook down. Right now waiting on the weather to warm back up in a few days. Should have another run then.

Hi Dave, this is the other Dave off of bastin asbury rd. We drove by your place a couple of weeks ago but you were boarded up.. no one around then I heard you were not going to cook this year. Glad you made it into the woods. We have had a really good run this winter pulling over 2000 gallons of sap. I'm looking forward to the thaw so I can at least get out of my driveway. after this deep freeze I expect a couple of great runs before the end of this season.

It's good to hear that you are having a good season. Usually means that we are going to have a good season up north. Still a week away from tapping.

    Well you guys getting sap?

I gathered about 200 gallons today and they been still dripping since midday ;-)

Wet snow made it a bit slick out.

Pulled 30 or so leaky bags from bite marks.. Took the spile out thinking not enough season left to replace
