Default Time to get ready for some sap i Reckon

Well folks i am getting stuff out and cleaned up here at Flying Nectar Farm. Hope we get the weather we need for a good season. I got two more folks to put out a few taps this year after seeing me make the tasty golden liquid gold. Got some more supplies ordered from Sugarbush this week. Got a case of sap saks (250) i might push again this winter and tap all i can handle and them some :-)

Warm weather here now looks to push things out a bit from last year. I will be waiting drill in hand for the cold spell.

I did have a large maple with a pruned branch dripping last week ;-)
about 200 taps on Sap sak with homemade holders
    2'x5' pan
boiler arch from homemade setup with blower
Homemade pallet sugar shack proud of it ;-)

Well i just put out about 30 taps so far this past Monday. Some sap yesterday but the run looks to be on its way as it warms up after tonight :-)

I be putting out 150 more taps here in next day or so i prefer to tap when they run as i feel it cleans the hole a bit.

Hey treeguy, Dr. Perkins said that tapping when the tree is frozen will reduce the bacteria and that's how the big producers can tap so many. My tapping has been delayed due to weather and my wife being sick. I had tapped when the sap was running before but I intend to tap when they are froze this season. This Sunday the 4th looks good here.

    Well its froze :-) now

If you tap when its frozen i would watch to not split as the spile goes in.

I been tapping and i did 50 on my neighbors farm this the other day, wow he has lots of large trees many are 30" + and way more then i could ever want to tap. He would have the perfect spot for a gravity system as the farm has many trees on slope that surrounds a flat bottom spot..Maybe one day

Got a small amount of sap the other day but i think we are just short of a run after this cold.
