    Default Plastic container sterilizing?

Do you guys know if you have to sterilize plastic containers? The small ones like 8 and 16 oz. if you hot pack it will the plastic melt? Thanks Mr. Red Maple

It depends on the plastic. If the containers are "intended" for syrup, then no, they can handle high temps and if they are new, I just tip them upside down to make sure nothing has found its way inside, even inspect the inside if possible. When you put in 180-195 degree syrup, it will be good to go. Tip the filled containers upside down for a few minutes to heat/sterilize and seal the cap.

    Hope that helps.
