That's what my freeman maple looks like. My silver is even further along than those pics. Nothing on the sugars though.

That looks like what is left from last year's flower/fruit.

The silvers over on this side of the state are in full bloom, and I'm starting to see some reds too. The sugars haven't even started to swell yet.

I got 8 gallons of questionable sap earlier in the week. Tried to boil it yesterday and my wife said "why does it smell like you're are cooking cauliflower in there?" I guess I finally got to experience Buddy sap. I shut it down and pulled all my taps yesterday. Finished the season at 280 gallons of sap from 44 taps and made a pint shy of 7 gallons. I hope you guys in the north can stretch the season out a little longer. Good luck to everyone.

My sugar buds have not even started to swell, as of yesterday. We have real warm temps forecast thru Tuesday, then if all goes well, I should get 3 or 4 more days of good flow. The holes have not started to dry up on CV2's, and I finished tapping 1/20 (or 21). My taps are all on sugars and are 95%+ woods trees, with just a very few roadside on an east facing slope. This likely helps.
Dave Klish, I recently ordered a 2x6 wood fired evaporator from A&A Sheet Metal which I will be converting to oil fired
Now have solar, 2x6 finish pan, 5 bank 7x7 filter press, large water jacketed bottler, and tankless water heater.
Recently bought another Gingerich RO, this one was a 125, but a second membrane was added thus is a 250, like I had.
    After running a 2x3, a 2x6, 3x8 tapping from 79 taps up to 1320 all woodfired, now I'm going to a 2x6 oil fired and a 200-425 taps.

Ran the vacuum pump for about an hour yesterday, couldn't stand the look or smell of what was dumping from the releaser. Peepers are out in the swamp at night here too, supposed to be a big freeze Tues., but I am pretty sure it is too late.
