Gather with GMC 3500 2wd Pickup w/ 425 gallon Plastic Tank.
Been tapping here in Lyman NH since 1989 but I've been sugaring since 8 years old in 1968.
750 taps yielded about 475 gallons yesterday boiling today sugar is 2.7
30x8 Leader revolution, wood fired blower, steamaway/hood. 903 taps all but 54 on pipeline and 3 vacuum systems. Hauling sap this year with a 99 F350 7.3 diesel dump and of course back up is the Honda 450 and trailer.
It was very disappointing here. Overnight we got about 125 gallons of sap and during the day until we pumped the tank at 3:30 we had only gotten another 75 gallons. The 100 buckets that hadn't been gathered in a week yielded another 60 gallons.
I'm thinking the same as you Dill. We need some sun to heat up and thaw out the trees. The snow has melted away from the bases of most of the trees so it isn't the snow pack that is killing us. How much the cold has settled in is evident when I still have chunks of ice in my furnace wood pile that haven't melted despite the mid 40's temps.

Maple maniac, I'm surprised to see you got more than 1/2 a gallon per tap. I was expecting something good yesterday and on my tiny 35 taps I got about 5 gallons of sap. The kids are happy, last year they were lugging full 5 gallon buckets around every time we collected now it's a breeze. Of course last year they could drive the golf carts to collect since there wasn't any snow on the ground.
I'm with Dill, my huge old maples haven't produced anything yet this season. The smaller quicker to thaw trees have been the only ones doing anything (and that's not saying much). This coming week looks promising, fingers crossed.

Some might want to kill me but I collected 50+ gallons after the rain was finished. Tested it at 1.5% max so I dumped it all. Hoping tomorrow and wedneday to rubberize my arms carrying full buckets. I've been getting near 3% without the rain
Forecast improved - now has us getting some 20's at night.
