It was very disappointing here. Overnight we got about 125 gallons of sap and during the day until we pumped the tank at 3:30 we had only gotten another 75 gallons. The 100 buckets that hadn't been gathered in a week yielded another 60 gallons.
I'm thinking the same as you Dill. We need some sun to heat up and thaw out the trees. The snow has melted away from the bases of most of the trees so it isn't the snow pack that is killing us. How much the cold has settled in is evident when I still have chunks of ice in my furnace wood pile that haven't melted despite the mid 40's temps.
