Hey there guys. I left my bush in Minden on Sunday afternoon with about 45 of 60 taps running at full tilt. I collected about 35 gallons, and stashed it in a snow bank. I cannot get back up there until Wed to collect. How was it running up there today. I am hopping for a big boil this weekend.
Thanks
Ralph
2013 55 taps, a homemade 2 x 5 oil tank evaporator and 2 x 4 flat pan
2014 56 taps new sap pump and 45 gallon sap gravity feed copper coil pre-heater rig
2015 60 taps just tweaking things
2016 shooting for the same but will see what happens
its running better today
20 of 24 taps running well today. Got 7 gallons. First boil tomorrow afternoon.
I collected 250 gals yesterday @ 2%
ralph I would say that you will be having a big boil this weekend. if you save it all till the weekend. it might be over flowing by Wednesday
good luck
phil
I use 4 gallon buckets on drop tubes. That way I have a little more wiggle room. My buckets are dug down in the snow to try to keep them cool. The only problem I have had this year is the number of snow flees (spring tails) that are around. They are getting into my pails.

I'm back, I made about 5.5litres between Sunday and Monday, the sap was running pretty good and the weather was great. The snow is still very deep, about 3 feet deep if I step off my trails. My syrup turned out well this year, in the past I have had problems finishing, as I'm not sure how accurate my thermometer is. I'm probably finished for this year, as I won't get back up for a couple of weeks.
