I have 12 taps and collected 20 gallons today. I use milk jugs and they have been overflowing...first thing this morning I got 9 gallons, lunchtime another 5, and then another 6 before heading to bed. I boiled down 30 today with another 20 waiting. Not counting this run, I have already made over a gallon of syrup.

I'm guessing its a pretty good year, considering its my first year.

I think the reds vary just like sugars do. I dont test individual trees but I have 48 taps in red, 2 in sugars, and 1 in a silver and the sap tested 2.3% in the tank using my sap hydrometer. Much higher than last years %. I'm sure the numbers will change but so far so good. I hope you all have a great season, good luck!

Finally the real flow has started. Collected 600 gls yesterday from the last 3 days. The other 100 gls was a giant ice cube in the tank from previous runs. The evap has been running great. Made 6.5 gls yesterday. Will be boiling today and tomorrow just to make room for Mondays pick up of sap.
