758 gallons,,,4.4lbs per tap,,,which amazes me considering i missed a week and a half of good runs..my vacuum was around 23" all year,,and there aremany many improvments i could make in the woods.

I was thinking that you must have cut back on your Taps this year. The math says you had about 1900?

I started logging at Rte. 11 in June? Cut 70k bft of pine, 24k bdft of hardwood and 90 cords of firewood. Really did not get inside the tubing too much. Some sections I did thin the sugarwood just the way I wanted, mainly thinned 2 new sections which I will probably tap going forward sometime. I did clear/ thin a lot on the south side of the bush allowing a lot more sun on the maples.
Got a new D&G 2850 gal. Tank for rte11 which has been a project preparing for/setting up.
Currently have about 700 tapped, about 500 with vacuum up to 20". Hope to get the test tapped over the next 2 to 3 days (splies all ready changed and lines up)

Got about 600 drilled yesterday. Was nice with the crust holding me up and sunshine, temps lower 30s..tap holes were wet with some running a little on the sunny side of the trees. Going to focus on drilling at one today. I do have 3 lateral main lines to finish repairing and tap but that will wait until after I get everything in the main system tight. I also have to finish shinning the tank foundation. As always lots to do.

May your tanks run over and you run out of barrles

Parker, Love that thinning but for a guy who is used to swimming against the Wakonda Auga you need to really step it up by Town Meeting Day! Meanwhile I'm frozen up tight here. Bruce

Hank and I both thrive when the chips are down,, if I were to swim aginst the current more I would still be logging and not start tapping until Monday.
I'm going to have to rehab my Timbco buncher which has been sitting for 7? Years...the ammount of wood i still need to cut out here is stunning..
I am looking forward to giving you a ride around the sugarwoods on the 518

I have about 200 left to tap, still have to put the valve on the new tank, shim the tank up, glue the pvc between the pump moisture trap and releaser, make a better tank lid...
Then prep the sugarhouse and get the tank on the truck, prep the transfer pump and hoses.

My you have more syrup than barrels....

Got all the taps in except for 2 main lines with 200? Taps. Mainlines that I took down to use their corridors for skid roads (which I set up originally in my skid roads 20 years ago.. I will be putting at least 1 back up after I get boiling. The other I am going to move so I can keep as a road for now. Might get to that this season. That road makes it easy for me to access an area of the woods I thinned and where I plan to add a couple hundred virgin taps that I freed from their yellow birch, ash, and over mature soft maple overstory.
I also got the last mainline reconnected to the conductor lines.
I have some friends coming over today and we will be finishing the work on the tank and preping the sugarhouse and the F350 to truck sap.
Looks to be a fine week sugaring.
