I thought i would have time for an update yesterday but got very busy.....i had 700 gal in hill overnight and 600 at rte11 (yesterday a.m) sap flow yesterday just slowed to a crawl and we got 600 gal all day both places...i crunched that and the 2kgal from the day befor to 600 gal of 6% which i will boil today...The sap was just over 1%....i was surprised to see the arrvail of a bunch of yeast in my drops at rte.11. the sap is still very clear for this time of year,,the sap in hill is clear with no yeast in the lines
I was really surprised when i looked at the forcast...2 MORE FREEZES !!!!! So....of course i spent 6 hours in the woods finding every leak i could....i think i have the vacuum the highest it been all season (my season is over when my vac drops off and i just cant get it back)...
When i came out of the woods at rte 11 there was a guy looking at the tank and tubing with a preplexed look on his face..he asked me with a deep soutern accent what was going on here...he was from misissippi and had never herd of maple syrup.. i gave him the 15 minute crash course,,he was amazed,,,im going to txt him when im ready to boil,,he wants to sed the process..so much fun
Its now 30 degrees and freezing rain...awsome

THE SWEET GODESS SMILES,,,,,what will i make of this oppertunity?
OH HOW I LOVE IT !!!!!

Mung is the the layer of build up the late season sap or especialy late season concentrate deposits on your tank. The later season sap for me anyways will leave a residue....kind of almost ropey sap...i was at a place in vt last week where they had a solid 1/4 inch layer in their headtank as they were boiling...

I did not get those 75 set up...pretty amazingly poor weather the last few days with the temp hovering right around freezing and steady fairly hard rain, snow, sleet....i started the pumps yesterday at 3 when it was starting to climb above freezing,,,let them run all night and this morning there was no sap......last night i was looking at craigs list...one of the things i look for is a food trailer that is in my price range to put my donut machines in,,way eaiser than a building a floor and setting up under an ezup,,,well,,,one i had looked at last summer was on agine,,it needs alot of work but its all there,,could meet codes....last year she wanted 5k for it,,,last night it was 2k...i offerd her 1500....this morning she calls and says 1500 will work but its first come first serve and another guy was comming to look at it....i called the help, went to the bank and we struck off for the mass line with every handy tool i could think of....after blowing up the tires greasing the bearings and getting the right dropped hitch for the f350 we were headed home...i was going 32 mph over the top of temple mountian and laying a trail of smoke out the stacks that made it hard to see the cars behind me ,,a turbo would be nice..got backat 3 and tore up to hill.....i hate to say it but,,,sap was overflowing the tank.......got 1500 gal out of hill and 800 at rte.11.......still running a bit....looks like decent weather around here,,nice clear sap

Good luck to everyone still swinging
