    The Addison County Sugarmakers will be sponsoring a maple school on January 13th at Mt Abraham Union High School in Bristol Vt.

    Topics will be;

    High production tubing setups- Scott Wheeler of Shrewsbury, VT.

    Time of tapping- Tim Wilmot, Proctor Research Center

    Comparative Tubing Trials- Brian Stowe, Proctor Research Center

    Air injection systems- Abby van den Berg, Proctor Research Center

    Basic Woods Management- Chris Olson,Addison County Forester

    Sap Ladders, Learn to defy gravity, Panel of sugarmakers

    Forest Pests- Spray or Not to spray, Ron Kelley, Vt Forest and Parks

    Syrup Grading -Henry Marckes, Vt. Consumer Protection Chief

    Sugarhouse Efficiencies-R.O. and fuel consumption Dave Folino and Harry Atkinson

    Boiling School- Glen Goodrich,Cabot Vt

    Sensible Woodcutting- Work in your woods sensibly and safely
    Bill Scott and Tim Steady

    Value Added Products-Learn to make Maple Cream, Candy, Maple nuts,and granulated sugar Jim Rowe, Dave Wetmore and yours truly Jerry Masterson

    RO Round Table Panel Discussion Don Dolliver, Peter Purinton,Steve Pierson, Mike Christian ( maplewrks) and me again Jerry Masterson

    Regionalizing Maple Marketing- John Elder,Middlebury College Professor and local sugarmaker

    When to drill without the pill- Stepan Guay

    Schedule
    7:30-8:45 Registration- Coffee and Donuts
    8:45-9:20 Welcome
    9:30-10:20 Session 1
    10:30- 11:20 Session 2
    11:30-12:50 Lunch & Trade show
    1:00-1:50 Session 3
    2:00-2:50 Session 4

    Certificates to hang in your sugarhouse for sessions attended

    Registration Fees

    Meeting only- $10 (pre-registration recieved by 12/30/2006)
    Meeting only at the door $15
    Meeting and Lunch- $20 w/ pre-registration
    Meeting and Lunch at the door $30

    This is a schedule as I recieved it. There will be multiple classes going on at a time so it might be that you can't make all of them. It is my understanding that there possibly will be tapes available for the classes missed. Lunch will be served by the Addison County FFA.There will be more info available if you are interested in going by e-mailing Barb Rainville at <rainvb@wcvt.com>
