    my 2x6 will hold alittle over 10 gallons of sap in both pans. I get about 30-35GPH on it
    FIRST GENERATION SUGARMAKER
    First boil 2/22/2012! Went Pefect!
    3,500' of laterals
    1,000' of mainline
    2012 - 105 taps on gravity, 12 sap sacks.
    2013 - 175 taps on gravity, 25 on sacks = 200 taps for 2013! Second year.
    2014 - 250 taps on gravity, 25 on sacks
    Tapped on February 16, 2014
    2015 - adding vac sap puller no more gravity for me!
    275 gallon holding tank for 2014

    Quagmire33, yes by all means chase the final syrup out of the pan with water. At the end of the day, I use water to get the last of the syrup drained, or more correctly, the "almost" syrup, then close the tap and continue to fill up the 2x3 pan with water and let the fire cool. I finish on a smaller burner and later clean the 2x3 pan. 90 taps last year meant long days boiling. Typically Ive gotten light syrup.

    Awesome. Thank you. I wasn't really sure but was going to try it anyways. Its good to know that's how other people do it.
    2011-2013Homemade evaporator
    55 gallon drum with hotel steam pans. Evaporation rate 2.5 gal/hour
    14 taps on buckets
    2014 used leader half pint evaporator
    20 taps on line, 24 taps on buckets
    12x12 shack for the 2014 season
