    Default Its gonna flow today!!

I got 26 taps in yesterday, yes I know im small time!! :-) The snow in my woodline is over 36" deep, its absolutely crazy how much snow we have this year. I trudged through though and at least got a good start on what I wanted to get in. I am going to need more tubing and more taps from the Maple guys this week, but im planning on getting close to 100 in this year, my trees dont produce a lot because they dont get full sun, so I have to up the volume of taps to get enough sap....Hoping for a nice run the next few days.

    Good luck everyone!!

good luck. Here in northern NH it like no sap runs in the ten day forecast. Only supposed to hit 38-40 over the next 3 days then cold again. Lots of cold in the ground. Most likely nothing but nuisance sap here.

You may get something if your taps are down in the valley with some sun. Seth P always said that there was a guy in lyman who would wait until another producer (who tapped in Lisbon Village) was all cleaned up before he tapped his trees.

I managed to tap my 57 that are on 3/16th yesterday snow was up to my crotch forcing me to use snow shoes and on two deferent occasions I had the shoes get hung up in a down branch hidden under the snow cause me to take headers on the steep hillside. I felt like a 8 year old getting up all covered in snow but my body reminds me I am 62 now lol. I am working today but fully expect the sap to be running.

Ya I had a low flow day. At noon it was just starting to drip on my parents southern exposure, ledge footed roadside trees. As in I could see individual drops on the bottom of the stock tank.
My vac woods was just starting to wake up but hit snooze when the clouds came out around 2. Not even enough flow to detect vac leaks, which I must have since vac was hovering around 9.

Wind in the South, sap in a Drouth, Wind in the East sap runs Least, Wind in the West sap runs Best and Wind in the North sap run poor. South wind today along with deep snow and well frozen ground, sap isn't going to run much. 4PM and we still have some snow on the branches of the trees. Like PerryW said, I don't think that there will be much sap until this next round of cold air passes by in about 7-10 days. By then maybe the snow will have shrunk some and the sap will just pour out of the trees.
