Put in 25 taps yesterday. Most of them are 2 to 4 trees tubed into 5 gallon buckets. Plan on 70 this year but with this odd warm up I figure I'll stick with these and do the rest later on when and if a regular season comes. Thoughts?

I'm in the same boat as you, but only have 2 taps in 1 test tree so far. Hopefully will get a few more in tonight but not looking good. All my taps are tubed into buckets as well and last year I think I tapped a couple of weeks early as my main trees weren't producing when the trees I had tapped later were filling up the buckets every other day. I had a couple good early runs from these trees but they weren't producing nearly as much sap as the trees I tapped later in the season. I figured this year I might try to tap later than last so that I get the most sap out of my trees. Hoping this plan works out and I am also interested in hearing what others have to say about this.
