I tapped my lines that are on vacuum on Jan. 30. Made just over 5 gallons so far. I will probably tap the rest next weekend

time to wake up....
Small time here. Five 5 gal buckets, 8 taps, boiling on an outdoor propane burner. So far since yesterday, boiled down about 20 gallons. Buckets filling up here in Barker faster than I can use so far.
hey Yukon where you at in castle creek? I moved 2 yrs ago from the glen to castle creek...
Good morning every one . I'm interested to find out what others are seeing for sugar content . I tapped last weekend and Monday , first boil was Wed. then Thursday and yesterday , sugar Wed. was 1.5 , yesterday down to 1.2 . the different locations I tap once combined in the holding tanks at the start of the season most years 2.2 - 2.5 This is like boiling at the end of season .

Scrap pile built 2.5 by 8, induced draft, preheater, separate finishing pan
brick sap house
I'm getting 2% on average in my storage tank. I've been checking individual trees as well and it's all over the place. Was a higher last week averaging 2.5 and early this week was still over 2. I have some yard trees that are keeping the percentage up. All the trees that are not out in the open are below 2%.
Just got back from taking samples from the four places I tap , combined them and pleased to say sugar content is climbing . 1.8 not the greatest but better than what I had last week . sap hydrom. and hanna Refractometer both agree
I'm near Sanitaria Springs and my levels are mostly well below 1.5% on the sugar maples in the woods. But the red maples out on the yard are much better - 1.8 up to 3.0% on one tree. I have pulled a few dozen taps from the sugars and tapped the reds.
