Hello, my name is Steven. I live in Vermont and I have a small sugaring operation with a friend of mine from church. It will be my first year boiling on a 2x4 arch and pans. I have spent the last couple years using a turkey fryer. We will go from 13 taps to some where between 60-75 taps.

I remember sugaring as a boy with my grandfather in the 1980's. I loved it then and now my kids enjoy it to.

Here us a few night time photos of my sugar house.

Welcome to the maple sugaring addicts club Steven. Hope you built your sugarhouse large enough. A few years from now you'll be moving the 2x4 out and putting in a 3x10. Best wishes for a great 2014 season.

Welcome! It is great to hear stories of tappers passing on the tradition.
They say sugar is addicting; but I would rather see our kids addicted to making a great product and learning to respect the land than spending countless hours on the electronic boxes. That being said I have three sons that spend at least 4-6 hrs weekly on the WII game set but they still help every day on the farm.

Treasure and share the stories of your youth with your kids; so they can have an understanding of their ancestors and their heritage.

Best Wishes for your future in the Maple Industry.

    Ben
