Just looked at a 30 day forecast and wished I hadn't. Come on March.
Just looked at a 30 day forecast and wished I hadn't. Come on March.
Just wait, it will happen when it should. We might have a old time traditional season. As long as this cold doesn't go too far into March, that could likely set up a very short season.
Dave Klish, I recently ordered a 2x6 wood fired evaporator from A&A Sheet Metal which I will be converting to oil fired
Now have solar, 2x6 finish pan, 5 bank 7x7 filter press, large water jacketed bottler, and tankless water heater.
Recently bought another Gingerich RO, this one was a 125, but a second membrane was added thus is a 250, like I had.
After running a 2x3, a 2x6, 3x8 tapping from 79 taps up to 1320 all woodfired, now I'm going to a 2x6 oil fired and a 200-425 taps.
They can't predict a 7 day forcast right. Unless the cold runs into March I shoot for the last weekend in February. I will keep an eye on the weather, and might put in a test tap 15th or 22nd. I will have everything ready for February 22nd, and sit back and wait. I have head that weather like this makes the sap run sweeter, but again will have to wait and see.

Hi guys,
We have a bit of a wait yet, ok by me!! Went out to check on some lines last weekend, to my surprise one main was down without any damage and a couple of lats, within an hour everything was top notch. Looking to hit another new bush this weekend with a couple hundred new taps, this one will need some work to get the mains and lats in, I'm guessing a 8 to 10% grade in 200 yards. I built a new 3' x 12' oil fired arch to replace the 18 year old one, a few more sheets of board and I'll be ready to run a test. Oh by the way nice to see ya writing again on the Trader REVI ,one of these days I'm going to pop in and visit.
Best to all!!

I'd love to see you! I'll be playing maple during the week of the 15th to the 23rd, so give me a shout and we can check out the sugarhouse.
I'd love to see your place at the Cider Mill Farm some time too. I'll have a little time around that week, if the sap isn't flowing yet.
We usually tap around the end of February, so I'm predicting February 22nd is when it gets going for Central Maine.
I'm looking at around valentines day ish
