I use a long stem and without going and looking I'm pretty sure the lines are 2/10ths

The one I have is 9 3/4" long, It must be a short stem. Do all long stems read in 1/10th or 2/10th Brix?

Haven't looked, but I'm pretty sure mine reads to the 1/4 Brix. Maybe your informant confused Brix and Baume? There are about 2 Brix per Baume, so that could have confused him?
