Default How can you tell if a 35 gallon tank is food grade?

35 Gallon Leg Tank from Tractor Supply, they say it is, but I don't see any label saying that.
The label says to use Polyethylene compatable liquid. No little triangle with #6 as on milk jugs.

I forgot to ask if this is good then how do i get ride of plastic smell?
I rinsed it with hot and cold water, and then hot wash and rinse with 1/2 box baking soda. Then rinse and filled with cold water and will leave it full overnight.

Yes, the leg tanks at tsc are used for drinking water storage and are "food grade". I use 3 of them for sap.

Just wash and rinse. That plastic smell probably won't totally go away. It won't bother your syrup taste. New tubing has a smell and I can taste it in the sap, but not in my syrup. Brian

Suggest you check with some folks who install water systems. I did that and saved 50 bucks on same tank as offered at TSC. Just pays to shop a bit.
    Best of luck.

Mine was 99.99, but Norwestco has them for 73 plus shipping. Depends how soon you want one.
