Default how much hotter- comparison question ???

Does anyone have a guess of how much hotter an actual fire with wood in firebox , compared to single propane turkery fryer burner?

I ask this because I tried to boil water in my arch with a single propane burner. I just placed the propane on the arch rack and didnt get a boil, stack temp was around 250 F.

My guess is I would need at least 5 propane burners to compare to as if I was actually burning wood. Does that sound about right ?

I dont know the BTU of my propane burner, wish I did, but I don't know the BTU,s of a fire either, lol.

Looking forward to reading any info you have.

    Thank-you.

spencer11 - forget scientific reasons, published reports, BTU findings, etc. Sometimes the best test is a face to the fire!!
