    Default Started tapping in Northfield

Spent today getting the manifolds in place on the vacuum tanks and started tapping today, hopefully by the end of the week i can have all my 900+ taps in when the warm days will be here. Most years i am much more ready but this year i have been busy building my own house so that has put maple on the sidelines till later than usual. I hadnt been planning to add any more taps this year but got another 170 or so in a nearby state forest that i am leasing since the previous user decided to stop sugaring. The temps look ideal for sugaring next week but lets hope the weatherman is telling the truth!

The forecasts are all over the place I was going to tap out this weekend but temps are up and down. I am only putting out 75 this year so I am holding out until the following weekend which is the start of winter break for me. Hope to get up to check out you operation this year. Good luck and hopefully this year will be better than last. I am trying sap bags this year so if you drive by don't laugh too hard at the pvc pipes and blue bags.

Sound good, i am renting a couple hundred taps on state land this year as well, near Knife Shop rd, took over and area a friend used to tap, been using most of his tubing and adding some new tubing as well. Should be interesting to see how you like the bags this year, i always thought they would be a hassle to empty compared to buckets, why not setup a bit of tubing in there, even if you cant leave it up year round it would be alot easier with the hills down there where you tap!
