I keep looking at the ten day forecast, looks to be mid thirties by next week but still gunna wait. Otis tends to be the coldest town in western MA.

Waiting, but looking forward to the season in Greenfield. New sugarhouse, new (to me) leader 2x4, increased from 22 to 54 taps. Have a great season everyone!

I'm in Savoy at 2,000 ft. elevation. I tap on average about the 1st week of March. The forecast is calling for mid-30's all this week, but it won't get out of the 20's here.

    Here's to a great season!

Im a little farther south than you guys. Im in East Longmeadow. I wanted to tap sunday but mother nature decided I had to plow for 25 hours this weekend instead. Hopefully tomorrow after school I can get into the woods and start tapping. My friend put in 65 taps in Hamden and Wilbraham today and all but two were running great.

I moved to a new town - Feeding Hills, MA. My next door neighbor has 4 large sugar maples right next to my fence. He said I could tap them. I plan to tap within the next couple days. Will still be using the turkey fryer this year.

Hopefully, if all goes well, my neighbor will let me tap the trees on the acre behind his house. It has some large sugars and there's access through the neighbor's farm. I'll have to "sweeten them up" with some free syrup!

Hopes for 2014: Talk to neighbors about tapping trees behind their houses, and nearby roadside trees.
