They look fine, not much activity but they're all in there sucking feed and building comb. The queen will be out soon (you want to check soon to make sure) and before you know in you'll have a population explosion. When you see your first new bees, you'll feel like a proud papa. Make sure you don't let them run out of feed, you will be amazed how much they will take, I would put a enterence feeder on so you can see how their doing without bothering them too much. On a good day around mid July you will see about 100 bees a minute comming and going. Watch for the bees to be bringing in pollen (little yellow balls packed in their knees) then you know she is laying.
Gonna check the feeders Thursday and for the queen sat or Sunday...

Looks to me like they are doing a lot of orientation flights... figure 8's around the entrance of the hive get the 'lay of the land' if you will. They need to check out the outside of their hive before venturing off to forage.
After the queen gets laying and then a hatch appears you'll get quite a few doing that in front of the hive. Better yet, wait until a hot/humid day and see what kind of bearding you have. They'll hang a few bees thick on the front of the hive. Some sight!
Enjoy! we watch ours all the time.

Pretty Cool I just got in from checking the Sugar Syrup Feeders. One Quart near the back of the hive was empty and the one near the front half gone. So I replaced the empty one with a full one and the bees were really clustered under that one!
Looks like Saturday or Sunday is the best day to check to make sure the Queen was released weather-wise!

Cool, it looked like he was collecting pollen - really couldn't tell. Watch the enterence and you;ll be able to see it, it will be yellow or a brown color and they pack it in what would be their knees. If they are you can be sure that the queen is out and doing her thing. As she is laying eggs the workers and nurse bees will bring pollen to put in the cell with some honey (sugar water) then cap the cell. The food is for the egg to feed on.

I have a dumb question...Nectar...when do they collect that and from what?
