I got off to a late start but have much more flexibility in my schedule currently. Hoping for at least one more big run. We are getting big wet snowflakes today and my Grandmother always claimed that was “sugar snow” when it happened in March. Good luck to everyone!

Much less sap since the last freeze than expected. Hoping last nights freeze will give us a solid run for the next couple days.

Well it's 30 degrees this morning, but that's the end of it. No more freezing nights for the next ten days. Clean up will begin on Monday. April is a great month for planting trees. I've got spots picked out for six Sugar Maples around a nearby apartment building.

We had our last boil on Thursday and called it a season. Have to work the weekend and cleanup starts for us on Monday also. Time to concentrate on next winters wood.

I had my final boil Friday. All that's left is to finish off what's still in the pans. Then comes clean up and flush lines as I pull the taps. Then it's time to do firewood for next year (unless I force myself to convert to oil or propane, a thought in process).
Dave Klish, I recently ordered a 2x6 wood fired evaporator from A&A Sheet Metal which I will be converting to oil fired
Now have solar, 2x6 finish pan, 5 bank 7x7 filter press, large water jacketed bottler, and tankless water heater.
Recently bought another Gingerich RO, this one was a 125, but a second membrane was added thus is a 250, like I had.
    After running a 2x3, a 2x6, 3x8 tapping from 79 taps up to 1320 all woodfired, now I'm going to a 2x6 oil fired and a 200-425 taps.

Higher elevations might get enough cold, but here in Potsdam we're done. I was a short season, just 27 or 28 days and the sugar content wasn't all that good. I'm looking at around 50:1 ratio.
