I'm looking at the weather forecast (like everyone else) this morning and I don't see any sugaring weather except maybe Tuesday(21st) I did a lot of cleaning but I never expected a break this long...Heck, I might forget the recipe!

The forecast is a little bit better with temperatures a bit above freezing 3/18 through 3/21. If it's sunny we'll see some sap. I've got one stand that's totally snowed in.

We've had two tepid runs in the mid afternoon this weekend. I gathered in enough to sweeten the rig and maybe make a gallon or two. The weather looks sort of promising over the next two days, with a warm night between that could possibly yield something to get excited about...maybe.

Nothing here Saturday, a little this afternoon, froze up now. Perhaps tomorrow?

I've collected well under a gallon/tap over the last two days. It took so long for things to get going then once the sun went down it went to < 30* lickety split. However, each day during the late afternoon the sap was racing out of the trees for a short period of time. Just expected it would have made for a larger yield overall. The upcoming days look very promising though.

A very slow tease, started thawing with a slow run about 2:00 and about 6:00 the last few mains thawed and everything was froze again by 7:00 -- perhaps tomorrow.

When is it time to pull taps? This is my first year with tapping and have had good results from trees in my yard. Taps in since late February. It still looks like good freeze/thaw weather.

    Thanks

Last year the season ended about the 15th of April, but one would be a fool to try and predict.

If you have buckets they will either dry up or the sap will be of poor quality and yield buddy syrup but it's true the cold is our friend right now.
