Default Tapping spiles in when weather is questionable

Right now where I am tapping the weather is 1 or 2 degrees above zero sap is flowing but it is getting cold at the end of this week. For my spiles should i take the spiles out for when the weather is cold? Should I just leave it and hope the wood doesnt crack making for leaking taps?

leave them in!! spliting around the tap hole happens during the tapping process, when the wood is frozen and the spiles are diven in too hard. If you remove your spiles now you will be hightening the risk of your hole drying up sooner.
