    Default First Batch

We tapped a week ago, had our first boil a few days ago.

We're small potatoes, and we like it that way.

We put 13 trees on tubing, and now we just sit back and wait for that barrel to fill. This is livin!

We boil on an 8 pan cinder-block arch. I keep meaning to tear it down and rebuild it level, but it keeps on growing longer instead.

A good first batch. Made just over a gallon.

That is one long block arch.

How do you get the wood way back in there?

Don't need to get it back there. The heat travels from the front where the opening is to the back where the stack is. The stack, once heated, creates a draw that sucks in air. The movement of the heat rearward will carry it along the pans where it gives up its syrup-making power to the sap contained therein!

When we want to increase our GPH, we just add more pans.
