    I will after this season!

I started out buying a single-jet burner by King Kooker and a double hotel pan, then found lots more taps I could have access to, and bought another double hotel pan and a double-jet burner by Bayou Classic.

Plan to place them side-by-side and surround w/ firebrick. I only hope i have enough firebrick to surround them; had a had time finding used around here, and bought a little more than I thot I needed for 1 burner.

I figure I'll blow thru the propane ($$$$$) but also blow thru the sap.

    Here's hoping!

Dad boiled when I was a kid; I helped haul wood & sap, & taste test.

2011: 6 taps, full size hotel pan, turkey fryer: 3 gallons + 7 pints.

2012: 80 taps, 105K & 210K BTU propane burners, 2 double size hotel pans. Dad says he won't need to come help 'cause "there won't be anything to do if there's no wood to chuck in.": ~25 gallons.

2013: 55 taps, 28 gallons; same burners/pans as last year.

What about soldering little copper tubes up in a hotel pan to make it kind of like a raised flue pan?

Money yes. Sugar seeker why LP? why not wood? wood is a lot cheaper. I personally use LP, but that is a condition of the one who must be obeyed. The last two years I have been using a turkey frier. In 2010, one frier going 1.5 gph. $ spent...didn't keep track. 2011 I had 3 friers under a refurbished milk tank. got 6 gph, cost $4.75/hr to run. That is just propane costs. I am glad I just do this for fun, otherwise who knows.

So my humble advice is to use wood. But that is my $0.02.

Just remember have fun, if its a hobby just don't let it eat all your money.
