2.2% red maples...
There are a few red maples i wasn't planning on tapping this year but with this warm spell I decided to hang a couple buckets to see if the sap is running and what the sap hydrometer was reading....I was was getting 2.2 on all five of them....i plan on tapping in about three or four weeks after the next freeze and thaw (provided the conditions are right)...hope the rest of my reds are running at 2% or higher then since they are 70% plus of my total sugar bush

Nice! Will be nice to get some fresh pictures of the season as you are a month ahead of me anywyas! Iwill be tapping several reds myself

2013 - 175 taps on gravity, 25 on sacks = 200 taps for 2013! Second year.
2014 - 250 taps on gravity, 25 on sacks

2015 - adding vac sap puller no more gravity for me!

I tap 50% reds, some of them are pretty large. I wasn't dissapointed with them last season! I think they averaged 1.6 to 2.2.
