The "why" is a big question. Perhaps a better route would have been to offer to buy or take over this site. I'm not sure where I'll end up. I want to be where ever the most locals are during sugaring season. I like keeping in contact with others to share our seasons progress.

I tried it and I like it. For me it's easy to navigate through the site, nice classifieds, the look is different, but I ALSO love this site for the years of knowledge and advice available. I will continue to check out BOTH sites. No worries people, just a different option.

I am going to participate in both sites. Another maple site amongst all of the garbage sites we have on the web is not a bad thing.

It's the same site as Maple Trader but with red screen instead of green screen.I'm a member of both but I really don't see a need for both. I'm sticking with Trader for the most part.

So now I have to check two different sites for the same thing (sigh....). It's bad enough I burn enough hours reading through this forum every day. But having to scan daily two (essentially) identical sites will be a hassle.

So, I'm kind of wondering: why it was done?
    Is there an editorial difference?
Is sugaring in the Great Lake states so much different than sugaring in New England?
Is there a feud in the sugaring community?
Is there some reason why I should be dissatisfied with MapleTrader that I do not know about?

    Let me know...
I was wondering the same thing. I haven't been on as much - but back in October I came on this site to a changed format and the most people on the Site that I can remember and I wondered back then - What the heck is going on? Within a few days the number of Traders on Site had dropped to normal numbers for October. Then - I started to notice that some of the old regulars that contribute all the time seem to have vanished - again - what the heck is going on? Yesterday - I was reading postings and discovered that there is another Sugarin Site - very much like this one and Shazam - The missing Traders were found. My Friend - Everyone - on both Sites - are being such Ladies and Gentleman - I don't think we will ever find out what happened. Soooooo! I guess I'll just relax and use both. - Hey! Have a Very Happy New Year and Make lots of Maple in 2012. -----Mike-----

Their goal is not to compete with the trader but just add more for us. I will continue to use both as do the founders of sugarbush.info I believe all of whom use this site as well. I have had lots of hits on my website since the site started. They are a group maple producers that just wanna give back to the maple community just like the maple guys do. I think its great to have another site to waste time on....uh yeah I waste alot of time on the computer!!!
