    Default garden explodeing

Here in north central Wis. the growing season is unreal, It's like gardening in a tropical rain forrest. Timely rains with lots of heat and humidity. We grow for 4 different farm markets. Been harvesting zucchinni, beans, cukes, carrots, patty pan squash, little red potatoes, sweet onions, raspberries, dill. My sweet corn we had some last night but gonna give that one more week. As far as keeping deer out, I have a solar panel that charges a 12 volt marine battery every day and have it hooked to a radio with a night switch so it turns on at night. I have the night detector in a open ended tube so it goes on early dusk and stays on later in the morning. Put a scarecrow close by the radio to give it more of a threat. I have to do it this way because my gardens are 2 miles away from my house with no power there. To speed tomatoes into ripening....Once you have enough green tomatoes on the plant with good size, totally give the plants a hair cut, cut alot of the branches off that dont have tomatoes on them, or some people take a shovel and cut the root system. I like the haircut method. I think they call it shocking the plant. The reason some of my produce is early is i push the envelope up here with early plantings. We have very sandy soil so it dries out and heats up fast. Frost protection is fire truck pumper and irrigation pipes and heads and large poly fiber frost blankets. The farmer with the early crops at the market can fetch a better price before the market is flooded. Good luck fellow green thumbers.

so obviously you kill the plant when cut the roots so the haircut def. seems to be the way to go.

    Default too much rain

We had to dig our potatoes early because they were starting to rot. We also had a rotten zuchinni and watermelon. Don't ask how the hay is going. We woul like less rain and more sun in eastern ontario.

corn still growing. Squash is coming, few carrots, to many beans to count just canned 10 quart jars still more to pick. no peppers, and when tomatoes hit, dam green worm damaging plants.

I am still getting peas...not really keeping them they don't taste sweet anymore. but corn still short small ears!!! got 1 zucc this year don't know what happened there they just never grew!!! Getting alot of tomatoes now not even close to the 80lbs I got last year but ill timed rain and lots of it toms starting to split I picked as many as I could yesterday finish rippening them in the house! Got water melons for the first time this year never had luck with them??? lots of pumpkins too had 2 bad season in a row for pumpkins even have 1 of the giants ones growing too looks to be close to 40lbs so far and still going good the best one I ever got was 120lbs so there is still plenty of time if it doesn't split from all this rain then I might break my own record that would be cool tons of egg plant(got 2 last year??)...tons of cuccs making refidge pickles today!

Always something. Good luck with the hunt.

    Now I have moles/voles.

The tomatoes are not looking too healthy. Fungus?
