    hi any you guys in the or near the casco area have any soft wood they would want to sell for a decent price thankyou
    Sunrise Farm maple syrup
    1999-2002 10 taps 2x3 pan on two burner propane cook top with dad
    2008-2010 back in maine dusted off equipment 20 taps 2x3 pan on two burner propane cook top
    2011 50 taps homemade arch out of 275 oil drum
    30 gravity 20 buckets
    2011 working on temp sap house with straping and tarp
    2012 larger sap house revamped boiler 75 grav 30 buckets
    2013 upto 190 taps added a blower to arch
    2014 new 16x24 shack new home made 2x6 with leader continous flow pan 286 taps

    Try looking in craigs list for anyone that has pine slabs to start. If nothing there call parent lumber and see if you can get something from them(slabs).
    best outdoor syrup made in Maine...... loosing that title as we are moving indoors to a 12x16 sugar shack with a new to us 2x6 .

    my wifes uncle lives in freeport and has a portable sawmill will plenty of dry spruce and pine slabwood he would like to part with.is this close enuf for you?
    150 buckets
    75 on tubing for 2011
    homemade evaporater @ 20+/gph
    2 boys getting "woods wise"
    1 wife getting "maple wise"
    still enjoying every minute of it

    thanks for the info i also finally got in contact with a local mill that gave me some timber but i may need a little more so i will give him a call

    i live in bingham and its my second yr what type of wood should i get for boiling sap? i used mostly pine this yr any ideas?

    Anything that burns is my motto. No pt or stuff that has bad things in it. We use all wood that we done use for heating the house. Like pine, spruce,hemlock and it works great. If you have access to hard wood for free then go for it. Just remember to split it small about wrist size for the best burn. Hope this helps
