    Question Western Bigleaf Maple Tapping

So I was reading this article:

    http://cooltoknow.net/Home_and_Garde...Alder%2C_Birch

It says that you can tap Bigleaf maples (the kind that grow out in western Canada and NW states), as well as Alder and Birch (which I have also never heard of). It sounds cool, and I would like to try it. Does anyone have any experience with this?

    Really ... tap 4" trees

And use a hammer to "drive" them home.

That's as far as I read.

I never knew they existed. I have heard of the canyon maple, but have never heard of the Douglas Maple. You learn something new every day.
