Cool! Our first tap count has been posted from... Kansas! Thanks RevDoc. I've been very surprised at a few States making maple syrup and Kansas is another one I would have never guessed.

PA just took the lead... by a long shot! Sugarmaster must be the largest Maple Trader producer at 82,001 taps.

Awww... that's too bad 3rdgen.maple. There isn't enough room in the spread sheet for 6 digit tap counts so we'll have to pass on your latest tapping efforts.

Actually I heard 3rd gen's sugarbush only has 99,999 taps. His neighbor has 80,001 on his. They share 3rd Gen's rig for a total of 180,000 - all are still buried under 10' of snow however.

Thanks for clearing that up for Bryan. I did not know I had to list my neighbors taps that I put in and the taps on my own land seperate.. Really wish I would not have put them in before that BIG snowstorm the other day. Oh well it doesnt say on the poll I have to be getting sap from them, its just asking for a tap count. Geez now that I think about it, it does just say tap count. I got a few thousand more taps sitting in a pail in the sugarhouse. I will count those in the morning and put an ADDED post whenever I get done shoveling all that snow.

We could use some more tap counts in our poll - find the poll at the top of The Sugar Inn forum. Right now PA is kicking butt!

I can't believe the "5000 taps is considered a hobby farm" a few posts back! I guess up there a guy with two or three thousand taps is considered a "newbie", lol.
