Yup our old bodies do tend to effect things. I come back to Vermont in the summer and work on the woods for the next year. But leave the sugaring to the young ones.
Not many maple producers down here in the Tar Heel state. But I succeeded in finding one about a hour from us, that I am going to visit after this ice storm gets done.
Thanks , Doctor Tim.
This is the first time I have been in in years. Good to see all the enthusiasm still exists.
Not sure yet...
This was the year that if anything could break, it did twice. The 2 of us with bad knees couldn't keep the vacuum up to levels that we liked vacuum pump broke down, main electrical entrance blew up,...
Good to see this thread still bubbling along.
I just noticed that I must have entered the wrong year, changed it.
I don't get on here much lately, I just noticed these birthday wishes. thanks guys. The funny thing is I don't feel a day over 60. lol
I know it wasn't, I just got trigger happy on the quote button. hehe
Some feel that the Big-E is a waste of time, but when you see anywhere from 75,000 to 175,000 go through your building everyday for 17 days and nearly 20 percent of them have never tasted syrup. I...
I have been saying for years that this was coming, but continuously I was told that markets were bigger than production. Some of you know that I manage the booth down to the Big E for Vermont Maple...
I know I am going to get some people that disagree with me, but I still feel it is a myth that that a evaporator boils faster when it is being defoamed. I did a test with my 5x14 oil fired evaporator...
I don't think it is so much that they are combating the foam, as I wouldn't have put any in, when the one was attacking it to the hilt and the one that was a constant drip said he had been doing it...
I had the privilege of being able to tour several operations yesterday, and I came to one conclusion. I saw way to much defoamer being used at many of the them, so much in some, that I could smell it...
And that isn't even considering taxes on said property
And it can be used year round. I did get one stuck once and it was bear to get out. I straddled a 4 inch downed maple in 4 feet of fluffy snow and the tracks kept going underneath the tree and I...
I have ridden and raced snowmobiles just about since the time the first one was made, but I would never own one for sugaring in my opinion. As said by another poster earlier, a wheeler with tracks...
With maple I usually have or can get the answers, but I am finding this interesting. I talked to a guy a few days ago down in Springfield, Ma and he was saying that professional chef's pay as much as...
Good to meet you yesterday at CDL, I don't care what people say about you, you aren't that bad a guy. hahaha
Looking forward to someday meeting up with you in your stomping grounds.
For all of you that are trying to blame this on the packer, you need to search this out further. They are basically governed by their customers, ie large grocery stores. They are required to meet...
Come on Russ, the only way to go is Mickey Mouse, it makes you sit down have a boiling soda and realize where you went wrong.
Theron,I made a pvc pressure vessel for my nephew, I think I have it near where I wanted, but I have a few concerns. I sent you a PM.
William, I check my privates every morning. lol
Anybody out there got a fiberglass 8inch pressure vessel that they would like to part with?
