Apparently the NRCS has very generous grants directed at energy efficiency that many sugarmakers have received. I'm going to start looking into them this year.
I just ran across this and should have a pdf of the manual if you still need one.
I have a surge sp22 with no motor on it that would be a perfect candidate. Western Pa.
Thank you all, I appreciate the insight!
Thanks I thought about doing it that way but figured the wire tie eyelets wound be too weak.
They’re 2x2 locust that I milled myself.
Hi all, I’m putting in a new wet dry system with only 2% grade so I plan on putting a 2x2 post every ten feet to prevent sags. Could anyone share pictures or descriptions of the best ways to attach...
Interesting Paul, I was just pondering this very topic in the last couple weeks.
Also another question for anyone else, what do you think about the D&G standalone brix controller? I'm wondering if I put one of those at the concentrate output of my RO and plumbed it to recirc...
FL, what model specifically is your RO?
Thanks
Thanks, I’m not concerned that much about concentrate output rate, the plan is only boiling once a week.
Hi all,
I currently have a lapierre 600 with a 5hp high pressure pump and one tower. I'd like to be able to single pass to 20% next season, running straight to a working bulk tank instead of...
Gathered 550 gallons of sap yesterday and boiled out / pulled the plug. Final syrup tally won't be done until tomorrow but will be close to 250 gallons. That'll equal a solid average season for us.
I've got 180 gallons made, looks like we'll keep running through this Sunday then done. Hope to land at about an average season.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it!
Dr. Tim, what do you do between boils with the sweet in the evaporator? Filter it and add it to the bulk tank once cool to preserve until the next boil? I just got a 600 gal delaval that worked but...
Chris, that forecast that had me excited a month ago changed quick! No syrup yet! Probably tomorrow.

I've got the exact same problem as this. Thanks guys!
I tapped this past weekend. Plan on washing tanks and setting releasers this coming weekend, looks like sap next week.
MN tapper, an 1.5" reducer works fine.
Mine are probably only three feet average, connected with Wye's. Whatever fits.
With the leader fill valve is it an issue dragging the probe wire with syrup on it over the rim of the jug? Worries me about sealing issues. Thanks.
Thanks all for the replies, i should've clarified that I in addition to dead leaf clusters i've got several dead maples in that area that appeared fine a couple years ago. Mature and not crowded,...
RC, did you ever find out the cause? I just found half a dozen of my sugar maples yesterday that match your pictures exactly. My google searches led me to wilt as well.
Thanks
Andy
