I would think you need to wait for next year for those trees unless you tru to wrap the tap with teflon tape or something to make it snug . I dont think plugging them is an option.. ouch!!

at the end of season fill it with sap and leave it for a month or so the sap ferments and does an amazing job with very little scrubbing.

7 degrees over boiling is syrup 226 should be almost candy

boil water with your thermometer in it take a reading when the water starts boiling then add 7 degrees that is the temp to use for syrup

212 isnt always the temp water boils at or the thermometer...

Take it from an elcheapo, get one its the difference between making sweet water and real syrup!! many years without it and not one batch was the same now perfect.

I believe by code 2# is all that can be piped thru a building 10-11 gallons isnt terrible for 4x16 really is it? a 2x4 is only 15 gal per hr.
