Bags and buckets
Have about 20 gal. Of syrup made, my reds and silvers are budding out (90%of my bush) and sap production is slow to nothing, my few sugar maples are doing awesome but not enough to justify holding...
Sap is just starting to flow but I got 200 Gallons this morning...trees have finally thawed out again...should be a great week!
Well, made about six gallons in the last week...now it's going to get cold again, figured it would but it looks like this cold spell might last 3 weeks or more...hope we don't have a short season...
156 taps all sacks and buckets hung Saturday, trying to get this early run...over 200 gallons of sap this morning, haven't tested the sugar level yet...boiling soon.
Here in laporte county, set 150 taps yesterday, all on gravity sacks and buckets, started dripping by noon. its running good but not Awesome, expect to have over 200 gallons tomorrow morning, then...
Change of plans? If the current forecast holds I might start tapping by next week. Here in laporte county, hate to be late to the dance.
I'm up here in Laporte Co. just getting all my gear set up for the season, I plan on tapping between the last week of Jan. And 2nb week of Feb. watching the temps really close though.

How are your trees looking? Mine (almost all doft maples) are over 50% budded, my few sugars maples are showing no sign of budding, still not regerting pulling out due to the large amount of syrup I...
Yeah, what stinks is after this week the rest of March look great...i just have enough budding that that it's not worth it for me...im just glad I tapped early and hung 140+ buckets....i think...
Day after day in the 60's...my red and silver maple buds are starting to bud (about 1/3 of my trees are starting to bud probably many more before the next cool down)...i know its going to get cold...
I always keep an old hand drill and spare bit handy incase I have issues with either...
Update: got about 80 gallons before it all froze...next week should be good!
Set 110 taps yesterday, bags n buckets planning adding 40 more or so this weekend...running pretty good, next week should be better.
Can't say the name rings a bell, of course im not from around here originally...im located in Laporte county. I plan on tapping some time in the next 6 days, i think the end of next week looks good...
Next week looks like a good time to all in up here...if the forecast holds.

Made 18 gallons this year in 5 weeks on 100 buckets with a 2x4 pan...pulled my last tap monday finished boiling last night... Putting up a sugar house this summer, and getting a high effiancy pan......
I should really see your opperation, later this year i plan on putting up a propper sugar house, and them the following year gravity lines on some of the properties i have access to; 90 gallons this...
