What causes this “phenomenon” with under 10 brix concentration resulting in darker syrup as compared to boiling same sap unconcentrated and not being as dark?

Have you tried this yet? Curious how affective a 4” membrane is at lower pressure (125-150psi). Please post your results if you attempt this. Thanks

Along the line of Dave’s suggestion, a jet pump with a foot valve. Once
primed the foot valve will prevent sap from flowing back therefore keeping prime.

How many gallons do you need to transfer and how fast?

For sure. Usually wait till mid Feb. but think tapping sooner is a better gamble.
