definitely from the rear wall, better if you can come out of the back of the rear wall, not the top of the rear wall. the pans will work in series that way and be much more efficient.

It has been a great season, 163 gal of mostly light amber on 411 taps. hope to get the taps out and tanks/lines cleaned this weekend. Good to hear that most others have also had a great season.
sure does, but the vent hole can be very small(1/4), unless you are running a vaccuum system and releaser.
Had a table at a community expo yesturday and sold out of everything. 6 gallons of syrup, 9 pounds of granulate sugar, and 6 pounds of cream(all that we have made this year) and have orders to fill....

The bush we tap has been tapped sense before 1900, and tapped every year to the present except for a 15 year (+ or - ) period when it wasn't tapped. There is plenty of new growth that has come along...
I would also agree. sold 80 pints last week. People are more likely to cook a hot breakfast now that the summer heat is gone. Only have about 5 gals left till next season. don't think we are going to...

Brad, i have 6pc of cast spouts that my great grandfather gave my father to use. My father has not used them sense he was 10. he believes they were made in 1904. I will have a pic later today.
I have a few cast spouts, and i am going to the saphouse tonight to bottle. i will grab a handfull and send a pic your way. if you are interested, you can have them.

Thanks Dr Tim and we are aware of the importance of a leak free system. fortunately, the bush is just down the road from my house and can easily stop by every day.
thank all of you for your info. Sounds like it clearly makes a differeince, in fact it excits me. we are building a releaser and still need to get a pump, but have plenty of time for that. Now i am...
