Thanks Doc! I guess I should have posted my question differently. My "feed rate" with raw sap was 50gph. And that's what I was curious about. Does feed rate change? I've changed my feed tank...

Morning All,
If you're up here in Northern VT I hope you're enjoying our little break. Our little 2x6 with a steam away will evaporate 50gph of raw sap (Leader helped us tune it up real nice). ...
Thanks for listening. It the OP was written when frustrated and waiting for the acid to work the pan.
The big takeaways are:
1. Keep clean - we really do
2. Let the front and back pans mix...
We have a 2x6 King, drop flue, reversible, oil fired right with a steam away. We've always taken a pint or two of sweet off the rig at night to add to the next day's boil to get a first draw off a...
This was the route I was going to take but wanted to make sure. Thank you all.
Just bought a filter press and had to buy the 50# bag of DE. We're running out of room in the sugarhouse and I'd like to transfer some of the DE to a smaller container. What's anybody else doing?...
Check for ice. If it doesn't drain completely and then gets cold, the ice will hold it open. Could have some other debris in it as well. Take it off and inspect it. If it's damaged, replace it.
Afternoon,
Just trying to get an idea of what folks are getting for flow rates. We have a CDL 200 Horizontal. I've done all the rinsing prior to using. Made sure the membranes were in "right"...
Apparently it’s the needle valve
I've haven't had issues with the Gould's transfer pump. There are enough "vents" with the holes for the hoses. I was just concerned about putting the rotary vane pump outside because of "warm up"...

Afternoon everyone
Trying to concentrate with my new CDL horizontal RO. When I’m concentrating I get a wicked whistle and no liquid in the concentrate flow meter. There is output to both the...
I’ve certainly considered it but I’m concerned about keeping the pump warm enough for start up.
Greetings all from Snowy Northern Vermont.
I bit the bullet this year and bought a new CDL 1hp vacuum pump (they make their own instead of using Airtech). Anyway, my vacuum shelter is mobile. ...
Like I said, I'm changing all the drops next year and will eliminate the stub spouts for regular CVs. I've used the CVs for the last 10 years and I gather more sap than I can boil. I love em.
I'm using a tapping mallet with a polycarbonate head. Same one I've used for the last 4-5 years. Can't understand. Like I said it's never happened before.
Mornin All,
Just finished tapping and had a first time experience with the CVAs Out of 450 taps I had 4 of the CVAs break when tapping the stub spouts into place. I've never had it happen...
Pardon the OCD but I'm making my membrane storage out of PVC and I'm curious as to what length to make it. I have a 42" length membrane and considering room for preservative and all, what length are...
Evening all. I'm looking for pics of your horizontal set up. We just bought a CDL 250 Horizontal and we're keeping it inside in a heated/insulated cupboard. The raw, concentrate and permeate tanks...
Great, thanks again!
One more question. With CVs. Is there an advantage to using stub spouts and CV adapters or CVs and trim the drop each year? We're currently using stub spouts and CV adapters. And we've also had...
Thanks Doc.
Hey Doc,
If dosing under vac doesn't allow enough contact time. And the size of the operation doesn't allow trips back and forth from the vacuum to the drops. Is it safe to assume changing...
Which Garmin GPS do you use?
Thank you all. This motor/pump has been a pet project, more out of principal I guess. The motor is an 18hp Kohler Magnum with electric start and the pump is a DeLaval 78. It started with an electric...
