I am looking for a few company names that sell oil fired evap. I would like to get a 2 x 4 or 2x 6.
From what little I know about burner nozzles, it sounds like the 2.8 40 deg hollow world have been the best.40 deg would give very good coverage on all the pan surfaces and the hollow a very hot and...
If you happen to think of it would you see what the spray angle is and whether it is solid or hollow nozzle.
Sorry for the confusing post. DF does mean a drop flue and if I am burning # 2 fuel oil how many gallons per hour would be required for a 2 x 4.
I am toying with the idea of getting back into syrup making with my SIL. It will only be on a very small scale. If I were to set up a 2 x4 DF and oil fire it what would be the firing rate or how...
Tuckerman: I did take a break for a few years and now I am back into it on a very limited bases. I am helping in a 850 tap operation soon to be 1000. He is oil fires and no RO but does have a vac...
Is anyone using one of these new electric extractors made by H20 company? I would like to purchase one of them but first would like some comments from anyone that might be using one of them. Thanks...
A plastic tank with its bulk head fitting is miserable to get clean and have it drain out.
Go to a car wash and spary the heck out of them with the wand or do it at home with the hose hooked to hot water.
Just a simple food grade plastic bag is all you need. I used them one year in over 200 buckets so I would not have to wash them.
You have a great looking pan started so please continue with your idea. I might add that Vermont evaporator company that was in Ogdensburg NY many years ago had the same design, except the "V"were...
You had better take your kids out of school because most shools have lead based solder in their copper pipes. Also be sure to ask when traveling a staying at motels and hotels if they too have lead...
It will make smoke
Sorry for your lose Doug, we shall all miss him.
I am 70 now and having learn the syrup making art when I was 17 I would give it a go. The new house was done and I would be going into retirement soon (9 years ago). I started with a flat pan on...
You just can't fix stupid
Patrick Phneuf claims to have one now that you do not have to change the pans around on. I have never seen it or any pic's of it.
Why and how did the raised flue evaporater come about? What year and who(company) made the first one?
For me it would depend on if it was hard or soft wood. I have a mill that saws lumber for me at a reduced rate if he gets the slab wood. He has an out door wood furance he uses it in.
I got 400 of those aluminum hookless spouts in 5/16 if anyone wants to buy a few. $1.75 ea. Also have a lot of cast iron ones 7/16 $.75 ea.
I plan on being the Fri. Might be in the market for a new and small evap being that I just sold 3x8. Then its on my way to look at a used 2x6 Leader and then down to White River Jct. to meet a friend...
Finished off tonight. Ended the season with a nice gain over last year. Will start clean up tomorow and pulling taps. We had just about all the fun two old retired guys are allowed to have. Should be...
My tree location is exactly why I am getting out of it. If I make my sugarhouse into a 1 brdroom cabin in the woods and rent it by the week I will make more than selling syrup and get a tax write off...
