the state of NH does have a few maple leases - not sure if your area is covered by the office at Bear Brook or by Bob Harde at the state nursery . best bet is to contact Will Guinn at Div. of Forest...
we have the crecendo unit and love it - when it became difficult to manipulate the valve from my wheelchair, i knew it was time for an upgrade
sap retriever - that is a fine looking sugarhouse - what town are you in?
As for the materials to use, not sure if Precision Lumber in Rumney or Madison Lumber Co. does this, but at Durgin & Crowell lumber you can buy 1100 lf bundles of the "seconds" of shiplap white pine...
agreed - worst example was a sap lift from D&G that no english speaking tech could explain .
also no assembly instructions for my new pans, but excellent instructions for my automatic draw-off...
looking good Nate...

tough day to hang out inside, but still great to see Hop Kiln, morningstar, Chris the Maple guy, and other granite state sugarmakers today. Especially enjoyed Henry Markles' workshop on off flavors...

I have a Smoky Lake. If you have a non-modulating valve (wish I had one) consider putting a valve upstream to help control the flow better. and a bypass valve
Nate - holy sh$t- is that a ramp up in to your sugarhouse? nicely done...I am all for more accessible sugarhouses
stout frame indeed, and love the rough hemlock. Local wood = local good!
ditto to what PerryFam said about adjusting press size.
there are lots of nice presses out there - Daryl is one of the true gems in the maple industry, INMHO
best thing about a press is they...
has anyone made a homemade version of the barrel air pump? do they have an adjustable uptake to accommodate kegs, different size barrels?
i have a credit for Lappierre but cannot find one in...
it was actually some of my crew that were at the game - I don't do well in the rain these days - so I was amazed that TV showed our sign. and yes, Big Papi's game-winning HR was SWEET!
stainless not required. I went for 3 years with a 1100g vertical poly tank for a 600RO before now using a old 800g milk tank.
love the milk tank because it drains fully
I have an older version of this - not sure I would say that it is "quiet" but it has been trouble free

indiana vacuum if I had enough taps in one place to justify the cost
you may have already mentioned this, but are you going to sheathe with boards underneath the metal roofing?

since the thread on bulk syrup has slowed down, I figured we all needed another light topic of discussion...
