nothing in Kingsley for a week
the temps around Kingsley havent warmed up yet. A 35 degree day here and there. Sap content of .5 percent.
so will off flavored syrup make off flavored granulated sugar?
I checked the condensate comming off my flue pan hood a few times wiht a hydrometer, and was only getting less than one half of one percent
I'm done. Got buddy syrup last night.
We made 170 gallons. I'm content with that. I'm gonna put more tubing out for next year. Maybe I can make 200 gallons next year
Im not very good at checking buds. I continue making syrup till it starts to taste buddy.
I dip mine in hot sap between tests, but mine is getting some kind of mineral build up on it that wont even scrape off. Im gonna buuy a new one
IM just 10 gallons short of last year.
when Im done for the season, I use a stiff scrub brush and clean water. Thats it.

did you buy it new? Can I ask what it cost?

I dotn have a cap, and the glowing embers blow out and even with 25 feet of stack some fall to the ground. Im concerned about starting a grass fire
I would like to do less tapping, and just buy more sap, but I do want to build up to making 1000 gallons of syrup per year
LMAO too funny
it doesnt seem to matter how I wash my plastic tanks after the season. I always have red scaley stuf in them when I go get them next spring
my dad has a 4x4 john deere 2550 with a john deere loader. Its 55 horse. we have moved a couple thousand round bales with it, and havent had a problem with the eingine, tranny or loader. they are...

Terrible season here too. just no freezing nights.

I hate compact tractors to begin with. You can buy an old 80 horse farmall, for around $6000.
