I would only use it under the flue pan ( dry ) as a filler, then use half bricks on top. this has worked well for me.
i would recommend staying away from the dieaphram pumps not reliable at all. spend the same money and buy a hobby releaser and a used rotary vane pump and you will be much better off.
still no sap!! it's been a week now!!! hopefully we go well into april.
no sap since tuesday last week, too cold. so i was able to give all my tanks and evaporator a good cleaning. i've made about 40 gal so far, about half of my goal for the year.
$65 a gallon
$35 a half gallon

$12 a pint
go with a 2 x 8. if your tapping 100 now and have lots of trees to expand with, i'am positive you'll at least do 200 next yea,r with a 2x8 you could easly handle 300 to 400 taps without boiling too...
wondering what type of compensation people have given to have their sap processed from an RO. lets say i bring him 500gal of 1.5% sap and he runs it up to 10 % i think his unit is a 600 gph.

i wrap electrical tape with a peice of main line over the hole. i run 23'' of vac and it doesn't leak. much easer than splicing in a coupling.

ya that is my only complaint with my new lapiere releaser i think it should be threaded. mine seems to stay on under vac but without just the little tension from the main pulls it apart, i had to...
the alamo 100 comes stock with 3 oil ports 2 being baring lube and the other for flooding on the intake side. if its overheating first make sure the flood side is getting enough oil.
are you using an electric motor or gas? is the reclaimer mounted directly above the exaust port? it seems like the oil isn't getting blown out int the reclaimer and just collecting in the pump body....
sap's running pretty good today, 37* right now and raining sideways, wicked wind. got the pump up to 23.5'' i think thats all i'll get out of her without running too hot. yesterday we had a good...
leave them in!! spliting around the tap hole happens during the tapping process, when the wood is frozen and the spiles are diven in too hard. If you remove your spiles now you will be hightening the...
