We got our 200+ taps in this weekend, everything is looking good! Good luck everyone!
We have been using 3/16" tubing for 3 years now and have not noticed any plugging or build up in the tubing. We take the tubing down ever year and flush with a water and compressed air mix before...
150+ taps on 3/16" tubing up and running!
Finished with 36 1/2 gallons from 150 taps. Right at a quart per tap, not bad for the crazy season here this year.
We are calling it quits also, time to start the clean up. I will post our finial production when we finish bottling this weekend.
220 gallons collected last week. Just finished 2 new lines this weekend bringing our system up to 152 taps on 3/16 tubing to one tank. We are ready for it but it looks like the weather is going to...
Wow, that is a lot of head pressure for a pump. I have a similar location that would be nice to be able to pump sap up a steep hill however I have not found an inexpensive pump for this purpose. What...
We tapped 107 on Sunday and they ran well, about 100 gallons of sap collected so far. Time to set up the evaporator & RO. Good luck to everyone!
I do a soap wash at the end of the season and that is it. Who built your unit?
I have been using my RO from MES and it is doing great. Sure saves a lot of work! My manual suggest to not go over 8% to reduce membrane fouling. You can recirculate on the same tank and bring it up...
Go for it! This weekend is going to be great and I expect the season to run for a couple more weeks. There is still time to get bit by the maple bug!
RiverSap, I don't think you are doing anything wrong as long as your lines are not sagging. My tee's are generally standing up and I make sure that my drops do not sag. If your trees are on a hill...
We got the 5th line in tonight with 21 taps on it, that brings us up to 107 taps going to one tank this year. Looking forward to a busy weekend!
There are lots of deer in these woods also so this will be a test for this type of setup here. He feeds about 35 every evening. Sounds like you may have a good place for tubing also, I will let you...
We are trying something new this year. Tapping trees on a friends place and giving 3/16 tubing a try. Currently, have 86 taps on 4 lines going to a 65-gallon tank. Collected 120 gallons of sap this...
We got some trees tapped last night, 112 taps so far and just in time to catch the run today. Hopefully, we will be sweetening the pans tonight!
Just got home from a trip to Texas and will be tapping soon. Wish we had more moisture in the ground here but we will have to make the most of what we have. May not tap all of our trees unless we get...
It's not looking good here either. I'm with Sugarbush Ridge, we are holding out for one more good run. This can't be the end already. Maybe we should tap in December next year!
Welcome Potatopie17! Sounds like you are off to a great start, I see an evaporator in your future! We have 107 taps out now and just got access to another property, have 37 more taps to put in this...
MES Dolly 100 RO is working great. It is very well made and did a great job last year. I was averaging 75gph of cold sap with it cranked down to 50/50. It was just keeping up with my evaporator,...
We tapped our trees this weekend and are looking forward to sweetening the pans Monday night! I have extra evaporator capacity this year and am willing to cook someones sap on shares. I have been...
We got ours tapped this weekend! Some ran a little but not enough to collect.
I would consider ordering one from Ray Gingerich but I think it is too late to get one for this year. I tried to find a website for his business but didn't have much luck. What is the best way to get...
Hello everyone, just bringing this back up to the top for some advice before I start this build. Just checking to see if there is anything different going on in the RO world. Still planning on going...
I have made several floats, some by welding up a box of very light stainless and the round one was soldered. Not an easy task and on my new setup I see that the floats are made with a hollow stem...
