Josh,
I run a 7" CDL 6 bank with diaphragm pump and it has the 2" thick plates and I don't have any problems getting 50+ gallons through it unless it is late season or the sap is loaded with yeast.

Push it in tight and twist it some as this will help it stay better.
You should be fine with 3/4 mainline for that many taps without any vacuum.
We normally use One cup of Citric Acid to 25 gallons of water and a normal 8" post holds about 5 gallon so add that to however much you normally put in your wash tank and this will get you around PH...
Jake,
I have no poisonous snakes of any kind thankfully.
I posted all of my information above but we re-drilled the first week of March and made syrup until the 25th. To be able to go almost 8 full weeks after going through 7 straight days of 60's and...
When we re-drill, we go 1/2" deeper which is 1.5" to 2" and some less on trees around 10". Since I am tapping 9 different properties some of which are adjacent to each other, we will try something...
I continue to experiment with this and different methods. I haven't been on here for a couple of months and took a lot of heat for posting results last year. We started tapping January 29th and...
From anyone that first boiled on a drop and then went to a raised flue, I doubt anyone ever said they wish they could go back to a drop flue.
I totally agree with Van on the Dewalt drills. The 20V Dewalt XR are the best tapping drill I've ever used, lightweight and compact. The XR series is a much higher quality drill then the Max line...
I ran about 9 permeate and 2 concentrate on single post 5HP CDL 600 RO last year. I was very impressed and added a second post for this year. I had a customer of mine last season with sap max...
Piece of angle iron with The top of the V welded onto arch rail with adjustable large bolt on bottom works really well.
Let
20 Volt Brushless with XR batteries are the best.
Agreed, just put in a new T along with the drop, too many micro leaks trying to cut off the drop off the top of the T.
I have a Point of Use 8 gallon hot water heater made by Bosch and it really works awesome. It is 110 and supposed to use about 10 cents per day in electricity. It has a temperature control and it...
Some of the LED flood lamp bulbs, the cover on the bottom is a plastic snap on cover and should pass inspection.
I think 5 taps would be minimum and shoot for 25 taps as a maximum.
There are 5 ways of doing things in the maple industry, so many times someone is not wrong it's just how they choose to do things:
1. Won't work
2. Will work
3. Works good
4. Works better...
Nice thing about the end of Line Tee is that if there is a chew anywhere above it there is no loss of Vacuum. That's why I like to put them a few inches down the lateral line on a one tap tree.
I think he is referring to something total different than you are Chris. Yes, I use the end of line CDL hooks and the blue end of line Tees and I love them. On a one tap tree, the T is usually a...
I would agree that I would go with what the research says. I'm not the expert but spend a lot of time dealing with it and have a lot of customers that use it. Tim Wilmot and I talk from time to...
Most of the 3/16 I run is on steep slopes and I don't think it is good to go over 25 taps. On heavy sap flow days there is a lot of sap coming through the lines. To me the biggest reason would be...
Yes, I think this is exact same thing Lowes sells. You can buy the cheap grade or this grade, definitely get what you pay for.
Yes Dr Tim, you hit the nail on the head. Too often we looked at the cup half empty instead of half full. Yes, would say most everyone on here is blessed and wealthier than 98% of the world's...
There are different grades of flagging tape, if you buy the better grade it will last much longer on the tree.
